How To Style A Plaid Shirt

Nothing says it's cold outside like a nice warm plaid shirt. I took my favorite plaid shirt and showed you a few ways to style it. This is by far my most favorite video today. I filmed and edited this all on my own and I'm super proud of myself, I even did a little happy dance when it finished uploading. If you enjoyed this video please subscribe to my channel here. 5 Things to Do Before 2014 Ends

Happy December! We are nearing the end of 2014 and I am personally happy to see it go. Not because of anything bad, quite the opposite in fact. I've had incredible growth in every facet of my life. My professional dreams were realized, financial goals were reached, my relationship is the strongest it's ever been and I successfully maintained all of my friendships. So if 2014 was so good to me then why am I ready to see it go? Because I've been laying down the foundation for 2015 to be the best year ever and I'm excited to see it unfold.

That being said, there's still five more things I'd like to do before the year ends and I encourage you to do them as well. My list is as follows:

1. Find Your Purpose

Most people associate their purpose with their "dream job". In today's age when you can literally make money doing anything why not find what you really enjoy doing and then get paid for it? Even if your purpose has nothing to do with your career, I can guarantee you that once you find your purpose you'll instantly feel more fulfilled and achieve sustainable happiness.

2. Love Yourself More

In today's world of filter's, angles, Photoshop overload, and social media fabrication it's really easy to get down on yourself. Remember that you are perfect just the way you were born. Appreciate your flaws and your faults, they are what make you unique. If you don't love yourself how can you expect anyone else to?

3. Let Go of  Your Fears

I can't begin to tell you the number of things I could've accomplished if I weren't so afraid. Half of the scenarios we create in our head are just that- ideas in our head. Stop being afraid and just do it. Successful people are always the ones who took the risks.

4. Exercise More

This year I lost someone very near and dear to my heart to cancer and while his death had nothing to do with a lack of exercise it did teach me the importance of valuing my health. I know that we are all busy people, but odds are if you have time to read this blog you have to exercise, even if it's as simple as a 10 minute walk. Not sure where to start? Check out my YouTube channel for quick and easy fitness routines. This exercise can be done at your desk. No excuses!

5. Clean House

I don't mean that you must literally clean your house- although that's never a bad idea. What I mean is that you should evaluate the people in your circle and determine the value they bring to your life. I once evaluated my circle and ultimately cut ties with someone who constantly gossiped, someone that was obviously not happy for my success, and another person that had no goals, no passion and no drive. Why was this important for me? Because you begin to act like the people that you spend the most time with and I began to notice that I was taking on the characteristics of these people.

So there you have it. Let me know in the comments below one thing you're going to do before 2014 ends.

Cropped Sweater with Black Denim

Sweater- H&M  Denim- Forever 21  Heels- DSW  Rings- H&M  Sunglasses- ZeroUV

We tend to have fairly mild fall and winter months here in Atlanta, but this year has been unusually warm. It's November and I'm still able to comfortably wear a cropped sweater and open toe shoes. I was so excited about this sweater that I took a leap of faith and purchased two additional cropped sweaters. Hopefully the weather stays favorable because I already have an idea of how I want to style them. Am I the only one that envisions a look in their head way before I intend to wear it?

Also, I just realized that we have less than 50 days left in the year. How crazy is that? What are you looking forward to in the new year? I've made a promise to myself to not let fear hold me back from following my dreams, so I'm excited to see how long I'll keep that promise and what opportunities it leads me to.

Let me know what you're looking forward to in the new year in the comments below.

How to Exercise at Work

If you’re like me and most Americans, you spend the better part of your day in a seated position whether it be at school or in my case at work. Besides the most obvious effects like those extra pounds that you’ve gained seemingly out of no where, there’s also many hidden dangers. Sitting all day is so dangerous to your health that researchers have coined sitting as the new tobacco. Whenever there’s an opportunity to stand or go for a walk I take advantage, but there’s many a day when my entire schedule consists of going to meeting to meeting and before I know it the work day is over and I’ve been in a seated position for at least 7 hours. And unfortunately, an hour workout post-work or school isn’t enough to undo the harm that’s been caused by all that sitting. For those days when anything other than sitting is just not an option I’ve created a quick arm exercise you can do while seated. If you enjoyed this video, please subscribe.

What are some things you do at work work to keep fit? Let me know in the comments below.

Simplicity in Life

As I grow older I'm learning to appreciate the simple things in life. I find myself unable to remember everything I did on my latest vacation but I can tell you word for word the conversation my boyfriend and I had on the couch. The uncontrollable laughter my friends and I share about nothing in particular or those special moments with my parents doing nothing in particular - these are the things that matter most to me in life and it has begun to reflect in my wardrobe. There was a time when everything I owned was printed and full of bold prints but now I find myself drawn to simple pieces with pops of color in my accessories. With only 2 months left in the year I've found myself reflecting quite a bit on all of the things I've accomplished this year and all of the things I still want to achieve, but I'm enjoying the person I'm becoming.

With only 2 months left in the year, in what ways can you see yourself having grown?
